What We Collect
DraftRight is designed with your privacy in mind. We collect only the data needed to provide and improve the service.
Account Data
When you create a Pro account, we collect your email address and payment information. Payment processing is handled securely by our third-party payment provider. We never store your full credit card number.
Voice Input
Some platforms let you dictate text with the microphone instead of typing. Speech is transcribed to text on your device by your operating system's speech recognizer; DraftRight receives only the resulting text. A dictated transcript is then handled exactly like text you typed — including the rewrite and retention described below. We access the microphone only while you hold the mic button to dictate, and we do not record or store raw audio.
Usage & Rewrite Data
We collect usage statistics such as the number of rewrites performed, selected tones, and platform used.
In addition, the text you submit for rewriting — whether typed or dictated by voice — together with the rewritten result, the selected tone, and the AI model used, is stored to operate, evaluate, and improve the service (including training and quality review). These rewrite records are not linked to your account or any personal identifier — they are stored without your name, email, or user ID.
Personalization
You can optionally give DraftRight a personalization profile — your job title, industry, intended audience, and free-text notes about your writing style — from your account page. This is entirely opt-in: nothing is collected or used until you fill it in and turn it on.
When enabled, this profile is added as context to the rewrite prompt so results better match how you write. It is stored against your account and, for the free-text style notes, encrypted at rest. Because it forms part of the rewrite request, your profile is sent to the configured AI provider along with the text you are rewriting (see Third-Party Services). Choosing a locally hosted provider keeps this on the operator's own infrastructure.
You are always in control: view, edit, or permanently delete your personalization from the account page at any time, and deleting your account removes it. It is used only for your own rewrites and never shared with or derived from other users.
Third-Party Services
DraftRight processes rewrites using a configurable AI provider. By default this may be OpenAI's API or another provider selected by the operator (such as Anthropic, or a locally hosted model). When a cloud provider is used, the text you submit — and, if enabled, your personalization profile — is sent to that provider for processing and their data policies apply. For OpenAI, we recommend reviewing OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
Account data is retained for the duration of your account. If you delete your account, all data associated with your account is permanently removed within 30 days.
Rewrite records (submitted and rewritten text, tone, and model) are retained to improve the service. Because these records are not linked to your account or any personal identifier, deleting your account does not remove them — there is nothing that ties an individual rewrite record back to you.
